## Description

Overview Teton Supply Co Teton-Bond 130 is a high performance Petrobond* clay based cast sand that is expertly formulated, produced and quality tested in the USA. Applications - Mold for casting precious and non-precious stones (non-ferrous metals such as gold, silver, aluminum, brass, bronze, zinc) - Use as sand to face together with other sand systems such as water bonded green sand. - Backing sand for delft clay to increase the utilization of Delft Clay Usage and Precautions -Sand must be graced (crushed) before placing it against the pattern. - Moderate heavy laminating or pressing is required for optimal mold performance. - All patterns must be used with proper die-cutting agents to prevent sticking and maximize detail reproduction (Teton-Part etc. is recommended). Precautions for Use: Cold sensitivity: dry powder sand that does not hold foam -Use and store above 65 degrees Fahrenheit. -Cold exposure may cause sand to powder and dry out. Reclaimed sand (holds dry sand) -Add a small amount of isopropyl alcohol to the sand (preferably with a bottle spray) and mix well. Typically, 10 lbs of alcohol requires less than 1/2 tsp and spreads evenly across the sand. - Always allow alcohol to fully evaporate before using the sand. Sand/Blackcrust Reuse - Sand is almost reusable for each casting - A small amount of black bark is formed around the cast. - This crust consists of two parts. Black Sand Thank you for your understanding. Gray "Crispy" Sand -Discard only the grey sand that feels "crispy" next to the casting. Review: I tried this and the 190 Mesh Ultra-Fine. The 190 mesh gave my nothing but trouble. The 130 mesh worked flawlessly! Really sticky stuff, so have a towel handy. I’m new to casting, but had great results with this sand.

**Q: Which is a finer, detailed, mesh 130 or 190 mesh?**
A: 190 has more wires that 130. so 190 is finer . the number represents wires per inch.

**Q: Is this reudable for multiple castings?**
A: Yes, you lose a little each cast where it contacts the molten metal but the rest is fine

**Q: Is petrobond comparable to delft clay?**
A: Delft is finer than this 130 mesh product which comes at the expense of lower mold permeability (delft generally requires cutting vents and other workarounds and would just plain fail on larger items). The newer 190 mesh version of this product is much closer to delft in effective grain size and is a closer substitute.

**Q: How much sand do I get with one order?**
A: Start with 5 lb.. And be well

I tried this and the 190 Mesh Ultra-Fine. The 190 mesh gave my nothing but trouble. The 130 mesh worked flawlessly! Really sticky stuff, so have a towel handy. I’m new to casting, but had great results with this sand.
