It tastes much more flavorful due to the hot spices added although they are not very hot - just tasteful.It came well packages in a styrophome container and in a shrink plastic wrap. As for aging, Alps in noted for great aged sausage. This one is great. When I opened the wrap, I noticed that it wasn't aged enough because the color wasn't right and it was too soft. The taste was off. I had this brand before and it was good, but had never ordered it from Amazon. I should have sent it right back because we ended up throwing two of these away. From now on, I will only buy this from a deli.
