When I put it on a jar, I push the button on top and let the unit run until the display reads 35, then I push the top button again to stop the unit and I can hear the lid pop as the jar seals (super easy). Well made, sturdy unit that is a little larger in diameter than a 32oz (1 quart) mason jar. All of my spices, coffees, sauces, cigars, etc. have kept for months (and years) as long as I use this to seal them up each time after opening their container. Pros - Has performed flawlessly - Obviously holds a charge for a very long time - Well made (has survived a few drops from the counter) - Very easy to use - Creates a vacuum solid enough to make removing the mason jar lid a chore - Blends in with the rest of my appliances - The jar adapter (small mouth to wide mouth) secures to the unit, so i don't lose parts Cons - Can only be used on mason jars If you own mason jars and use them for anything other than hot canning, you should consider buying this vacuum sealer.
