You'll be happy you did.Because they're so small, it's easy to distribute the weight you want where you want it to be.I love that the blankets and mats I make with them are machine-washable; I'm a clutz. Also, children. (My first weighted blanket was made with rice. It lasted about a week into living with my roommate, whose 7-year-old spilled kool-aid on it. Oops.)I even started making hot/cold packs with them and microwaving/freezing them. (Not sure if this is advised actually, but I keep the cook time to a minimum and it hasn't been an issue yet.)Easy to work with, easy to clean up when I inevitably spill them, LOVE that they come double-bagged! My first thought was why would you use glass?! Now I don't know why you would use plastic. I just used up the plastic and won't be ordering it again. This product gives you the same weight as the plastic pellets at only a small fraction of the bulk. It's smoother, so the blanket doesn't feel like a bean bag, but more like an ultra-heavy fabric. I have worried about using plastic due to the potential for chemicals being harmful, but I don't have those same worries with the glass. There aren't any rough edges--think of seed beads the size of grains of sand.
