It keeps the sponge upright so it can drain properly, which helps it dry faster and stay fresher for longer. I love that this is perfect for the scrub mummy sponges, they now air dry really quickly and is more hygienic than just being left in a soap dish or on the side of the sink. Sadly my sink is not stainless steel and the surface is too rough for the suction cups to work, so instead I've stuck it on my sink caddy which holds dish soap, so it doesn't look out of place there.
