Q: Is a good on ice and snow

These are quite a bit heavier than regular tips but once my son got used to them on his forearm crutches, he prefers them. They give more surface area in contact with the ground but I'm not sure I would depend on them to prevent slipping on ice and snow or even wet surfaces. I think they do better than regular tips on those surfaces but they are not going to prevent slipping.

Q: Do they grip the pavement too much so it is hard to move?

I bought these for my brother who has been using crutches for almost 3 years. He said they are awesome compared to the replacement ones at the medical supply stores in his area. He said that they move really well so I'm assuming that they would not grip the pavement too much.
