The mouth opens and shuts - but not all the way closed - safety. It walks with alternate l he - as per a crocodile - although our gr/daughter insisted on calling it a dinosaur. She puts it in the sofa and it crawls towards her - then just before it falls off she says “Saved you, I saved you” and then giggles. The quality of this toy is of a high standard- it can walk on all types of surfaces - long pile carpet/ short pile / laminate flooring etc. such a bargain for an entertaining and enjoyable toy. It is electronic. **Q: How big is he?** A: The one I got is chunky and enormous, much larger than I expected or wanted! The body is about the size of someone's closed fist, as previously said, and the tail adds another 1-2 inches.
