Review: Retro fun, works well, nice features. Recommended! - This little guy is a lot of fun for this old fart. It's basically a tabletop AM/FM radio, but it has a nice retro look, with faux woodgrain finish and actual dials to tune to a station, adjust the volume and turn it off. The sound is good for FM radio, but not so great for the bluetooth or USB connector. There are no tone controls. Still, this is not a deal breaker for me. The extras are nice, but not necessary to us. The sound is less good when connecting a phone via Bluetooth to play music. You can plug in a thumb drive full of MP3s to play, but there's no real UI to navigate or select the files. For me, that's OK, this is not that kind of experience. I REALLY like the battery, which works well. Sometimes when cooking we need to plug in a rice cooker or something; it's really handy to be able to unplug the radio and still use it for a while. Very nice, very simple. I had to laugh when we unpacked this at Christmas; my Gen-Z daughter was like 'how do you turn it off?' and I told her 'just turn the volume all the way down.' When it clicked off she had this look of amazement on her face, like she'd just started up a Model T or something! Hilarious, and fun. Highly recommended.

**Q: Is this radio made of MDF or plastic?**
A: Looking closely at it, I'd say it is plastic with a decent laminate, similar to the console in my Toyota Highlander.  The black rounded edges and corners are definitely plastic.  It is in fact a tad better laminate than I have seen on MDF.  In general, it looks better than the '50's plastic model radios; but it definitely isn't an expensive wooden gem.  I'm ok with it, for my retro den.  Thanks for making me look!

**Q: Is there a trick to getting the radio to play? I am not getting any reception for FM, AM or SW. The volume is turned up and I charged it for 2 hours.**

How to get better reception?
1.Take the radio close to window;
2.Stretch out the antenna;
3.Stop charging when you use the radio.
Those measure will help your radio get better reception.

**Q: Does it play sounds for on/off or mode change? If so, how loud? Tone or voice?  Can it be set to not do it?**
A: Hello. I do not recall any sounds. But quite honestly I sent it back within 10 minutes of getting it. The audio quality was just too thin. My reason for the purchase was to listen to FM next to my chair while I was reading. Maybe in the garage on am it might work fine. Sorry I couldn’t be more help.

**Q: how many D batteries does it need?**
A: The Vintage radio needs 2 D batteries.

This little guy is a lot of fun for this old fart. It's basically a tabletop AM/FM radio, but it has a nice retro look, with faux woodgrain finish and actual dials to tune to a station, adjust the volume and turn it off. works good right out of the box..very clear sound....just got it this evening so I'm reading all the instructions . You have to dial in the stations by hand.. which is vintage .. no preset station options...vintage...rechargeable batteries and push buttons I don't need....not vintage...but overall it has a nice clear sound and looks vintage...I will keep it.
