So much excitement and so much danger.Cindy and Jeremiah are still dancing around their relationship with each other. Of course it would be difficult to solidify since he is a rabbi and Cindy is a protestant. Jeremiah's past is finally going to catch up with him in this book.The Mossad calls Jeremiah back into service and he must go back to Israel. Cindy refuses to allow him to go without her though. Too many times when they have been separated things go bad and Cindy has a dread that if she is not with him something bad will happen.Of course bad things happen from the minute they get on the plane! Jeremiah and Cindy once again put on the charade of being married in order to have a good cover of why they are in the country.Meanwhile back in the States Mark and Traci are having some excitement of their own. Mark is still trying to find out the truth of who his former partner is along with solving a murder of a homeless man on Jeremiah's front lawn. It seems that Mark and Traci and Cindy and Jeremiah are destined to always be in the midst of murder. Mark is hoping for some peace before his and Traci's baby is born, but that is not the case in this situation.Once Jeremiah and Cindy are in Israel and undercover Jeremiah must reveal who he really is to Cindy. He just knows that the love and admiration he sees in Cindy's eyes will never be the same once she knows the truth and sees him in action. Cindy is made of sterner stuff than that though and she helps Jeremiah every step of the way on this dangerous and revealing trip that threatens both of their lives and the future of their relationship.I devoured this book so quickly! Action scene after action scene kept me in the mode of "Just one more chapter" before I could move on to my responsibilities. I am much relieved to finally have the truth of who Jeremiah was/is revealed. There are definitely going to be hurdles in their future relationship, but at least the blinders are now off of Cindy and she doesn't have to wonder. I'm definitely in stress-mode now wondering if Jeremiah is going to be able to go back to his "normal" life after delving so deeply into his past nightmares. Looking forward to reading the next installment of the series. Soon, very soon! ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Can't wait for Book 10!!!!! *by H***M on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on September 26, 2014* Wow! WOW! WOWWWWWWW!! This book was soooo good. It did have a couple of boo-boos in it, which I will explain at the end, but it didn't matter. The story was gripping, and emotionally stirring, and just all around great. I love how much Cindy has grown since she was that mousy, skittish "only a church secretary" from Book 1. I will say this - get ready to CRY! The way Ms. Viguie wrote the emotional scenes will bring tears no matter how many times you re-read the book and no matter that you know the story continues in another book. Have tissues handy, I promise you will need them.As for the boo-boos. There are some misspellings along the way that tell me Ms. Viguie needs a better proofreader/editor.***SPOILER ALERT and SPANISH LESSON***The biggest boo-boo I found (not a deal breaker, just slightly annoying because I am hispanic and a grammar nazi for both English and Spanish) is when Jeremiah and Cindy are being held by Omar and he says to her, "Estas mi corazon" and she says it back to him. This is wrong because although "estas" does mean "you are" it is actually used for location. For example, if instead of "corazon" it said "hospital" or "escuela" it would translate to you are hospital or you are school. For it to make sense, you need the "in". That's why "Estas" is the wrong "you are" verb to use. SO for this sentence to make sense in Spanish, using the "estas" it should read "Estas EN mi corazon" (You are IN my heart"). For it to say what she wanted it to say, it needed to read, "Eres mi corazon" (You are my heart). Minor, I know, but still irksome to someone who knows the language inside and out.The only other boo boo I noticed that someone else pointed out is towards the end when Ms. Viguie says "Mark" does something when she meant "Martin". Again, I think this is something a better proofreader/editor would have caught, and it isn't a deal breaker. It isn't confusing because as you read the book you KNOW where Mark is and that it's supposed to be Martin. But for some more of the "anal" folks out there, it could be more annoying than it really is because it only happens that ONE time (and you're so caught up in the action you might not even catch it until you've read it 4 times like I did when I caught it).All that to say, read this book. But read them all in order. You will be SO glad you did :) ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ An Outstanding Murder Mystery *by C***S on Reviewed in the United States 🇺🇸 on May 23, 2018* This author is able to make me gasp, hold my breath, yell into the room, and cry from page and chapter to next page and chapter. Even the ending keeps the taut dialog alive until the last sentence of the novel.This series is for persons liking action packed novels. We have a Rabbi (or is he?) and the next door protestant secretary who first stumbles over a dead body...that was in book one. This novel is book nine and I'm hoping it continues into the forties or more.Rabbi Silverman, and Cindy are two crime fighters. One is trained and the other is learning in the field from being accidentally thrown in the deep end of a middle eastern conflict, some would refer to as a war. Both are true believers of their individual faiths. The attraction is strong between them but the fact that there seems to be a constant flow of dead bodies puts their lives in jeopardy.Living in California should be an oasis from crime as deadly as the CIA etc. deals in, should be...rhe Rabbi is torn from his retirement and Cindy refuses to stay behind. We are suddenly in Iran, then Israel, then...well, I'm still suffering from jet lag so I suggest you, as an interested reader, should find out for yourself.All I can tell you is that I'm still hearing the words penned by Ms. Viguie.
