The Tamarack Technologies, Inc. HV1000 R38 Whole House Fan easily mounts in the attic on 16 or 24 inch on center joists. The attic fan can be mounted horizontally or vertically. This 1600 CFM* whole house attic fan quickly circulates air and cools your home whenever the outdoor air is cooler than the indoor air. The whole house fan operates at two speeds to push hot air, indoor air pollutants, allergens, moisture and odors out through attic vents or gables while pulling cool, fresh air into the home through the open windows. The air exchange naturally cools your home and can improve the indoor air quality. Like all Tamarack Technologies HV Series Whole House Fans, the HV1000 R38 features a unique self sealing door design. The unit includes R38 insulated doors that open automatically when the fan is operating and seal shut automatically when the fan is off, preventing cool air from escaping from your living area to the attic. The insulated doors also prevent heat loss through the attic during the cooler months. As an experienced DIYer, installation and wiring of the Tamarack Technologies HV1000 was straightforward and without incident. The only tricky part was calculating the exact placement in the upper level hallway ceiling so that the the truss roof system did not interfere with the operation of the self-sealing doors. I've been waiting for a warm day this spring to turn the unit on to see how well it cools our townhouse. It works great! Durability is yet to be determined.

I like the 2 speeds and it drops the temp 4-5 degrees. The grate doesn't hide the area in the ceiling well so I painted the wood black and that helps conceal it. Totally worth it! I love the remote functionality so I don't have to go up and down stairs to turn it on or off.

I've always been a fan (no pun intended) of fresh air over AC. As an experienced DIYer, installation and wiring of the Tamarack Technologies HV1000 was straightforward and without incident. The only tricky part was calculating the exact placement in the upper level hallway ceiling so that the the truss roof system did not interfere with the operation of the self-sealing doors. easy to install i had a big hole to start with a little louder than i had hoped but makes good white noise generator have to turn on attic fan to make it work well but that could be the the design of the attic
