This applies to the Acer V3-731.Flip the laptop upside down. Slide orange lock sideways - take out the battery . Remove the compartment that covers the hard disc - 9 screws. Remove two small screws from the hard drive holder and slide back and lift out. Remove a small screw retaining the CD/DVD drive and pull out. Take out the cover for the SDHC or any chip that may be in the slot. To remove the bottom cover you need to take out some 20+ screws of 3 different types from the bottom of the unit.Then flip the laptop the right way up - careful not to lose any screws that will drop out. Collect these screws and place in a small dish. Now open the lid (display). The touch pad can be lifted off but take care to lift the small white flap holding the ribbon cable in place to release it. Then release the other ribbon cable by lifting the flap that is locking it in place. Carefully disconnect a miniature 4 pole connector that feeds to the speakers. You will need pointed tweezers to do this. Lift the keyboard up and carefully flip it upright to reveal the ribbon cable to the keyboard. Lift the connector flap and release the ribbon cable. Put the keyboard face down on a soft surface. Detach the speaker cable that runs across the back of the keyboard and tape it out of the way. There will be a small circuit board for the on / off switch that needs to be removed. There are several very small silver screws under a clear insulating layer that need to be removed as well as a set of 6 black screws along one edge of the keyboard support plate that need to be removed. The support plate can now be slid off the retaining clips and lifted off. This reveals the keyboard. Carefully remove the keyboard and ribbon cable. Put the new keyboard in place and reverse all of the above steps. If all goes well you will have no screws left over and a working keyboard! Good luck. ### ⭐ 1.0 out of 5 stars Was shipped a used, beat up keyboard, unsurprisingly it is non-functional so now I wait for another.... *by G***R on Reviewed in the United States on November 25, 2016* Not sure if the keyboard I received was swapped and returned by a previous buyer or what but it arrived in a box with a "new" sticker on the outside. I could tell right away the keyboard itself was obviously used, the back had some small dents and there was a burn mark where's it sat up against a heat sink or fan. Since only half the keys on my computer worked I installed it anyway, hoping for the best. As others said the install takes a little time but is not very difficult. When I started the computer back up the "new" keyboard was completely dead, no keys worked at all. I re-installed my old, half-functional keyboard and it worked like it used to. I have plenty of experience building/repairing computers and I even took it back apart to double check the ribbon cable and tried giving it another chance....still dead. I had to pop off the F11 key and carefully trim it to fit. Otherwise it worked well.
