Review: Extended pain relief for minor pain only - My doc recommended these for use after hip replacement surgery. The expected benefit from these tabs is the 8 hour relief which would enable sleeping through the night. However, these were not strong enough for me. The tabs are designed as bi-layer tabs with a total of 650 mg. The first layer releases 325 mg with peak effectiveness in 30 minutes or so. The remaining 325 mg is slowly released over the next 7 or so hours which is too little per hour to help with anything other than very minor pain. I got a better night's sleep with taking a 500 mg tab just before bed and then taking another 500 mg around 3 AM.
