I used to use the plastic bottles with the black cap that you microwave. You had to squirt them into your nose. I found it a miserable experience but my ENT insisted strongly that I should be doing sinus rinses. I got this pot because I wanted something more long-lasting than the plastic bottles, and it’s pretty, too. I absolutely love it! I use a measuring cup to warm the saline water (always distilled) and then pour it into the pot for use. 8 ounces fills it twice, once for each nostril. The pot isn’t as aggressive as the squirt bottle and I actually think it’s more effective. Once done, I clean it with soap and water and let it completely dry before using it again.The pot is beautiful and well made, and for me it was worth the extra money.
