Review: Best purchase this year - Hello Roborock Team, I wanted to share some feedback after several days of using my Saros 10R. Overall, I am extremely pleased with the performance of the unit. I use it on approximately 2,500 square feet of sealed stained concrete flooring, and the results have exceeded my expectations. The floors not only look cleaner than they did with my previous manual cleaning routine, but they also feel noticeably cleaner underfoot. The vacuuming and mopping performance have genuinely improved my quality of life by reducing the time and effort required to maintain my home. I particularly appreciate the mapping capabilities, obstacle avoidance, automatic recharging, and the dock’s self-maintenance features. The robot has integrated very well into our household. I do have two suggestions that I hope may be helpful for future software or hardware updates: 1. High-pile rug handling: I have a very thick shag area rug in my master suite. The Saros 10R recognizes the rug and correctly identifies it as high pile, but it currently bumps the edge and does not attempt to traverse it. I have already experimented with separate zones, custom carpet settings, reduced suction, and manual control testing. One feature that might help users in this situation would be the ability to create a virtual threshold or edge designation around a rug, allowing the robot to approach and attempt traversal using customized parameters. 2. Robot self-cleaning: The dock does an excellent job maintaining the mops and dust collection system. One enhancement I would personally love to see is a method for cleaning dust accumulation on the exterior sides of the robot itself, perhaps through a docking rotation or side-cleaning mechanism. This is certainly a minor point, but it would further enhance the premium ownership experience. Thank you for creating such an impressive product. It is rare for a household technology purchase to exceed expectations, but the Saros 10R has done exactly that for me. Best regards, A very satisfied Saros 10R owner
Review: Lifechanging if you have pets! - This thing is lifechanging! We have 4 dogs (2 shepherds) and 7 cats, and live in the country. We could make another cat and dog every day with what these guys shed. Without this, it was a never ending (and failing) battle to keep the home even halfway decently swept/vaccumed, let alone mopped. Living in the country we also constantly have dirt/mud being tracked in. Oh, we also have a wood stove so add ash/dirt/wood chips just for fun. (I feel sorry for this poor thing!) This sucker flat out works! I run it every day. The dust bin is a bit small, wouldn't want the vac without the auto-empty bin. It's full after vacuuming about half our living room. But the dock works perfectly. You can define "rooms" or sections of your house and have it auto-empty and charge after each one to address that. I put a new (washed) mop pad on and fill the water tank every night, leaves the floor nice and clean once it's done cleaning. Not necessarily perfect, especially if the dogs feet were muddy, but very good. By the 2nd cleaning it IS perfect, we rarely do an actual mopping, just clean up any spills. A few hints or comments. If you have laminate or hardwood flooring you will want the unit to mob the long direction of the boards. You can't specify mop direction, but you can divide a large room into longer, thinner sections, which causes the vacuum to run/mop the long way. If you have a litter box, inevitably some litter will be scattered. You'll want to vacuum that area first, not mop and vac a the same time. That litter will turn to mud and smear. Running a vacuum cycle first in that area addresses that issue. In the last 3 months we've had the unit, I think it's failed to make it back to the dock 1/2 times. At least one it ingested a charging cord, so that's my bad. Once it just got confused and refused to leave a specific area. A couple of cautions. If you have the herd we do, the dust bags don't last long. We get maybe 2-3 weeks out of one, which as far as I'm concerned is quite good. You can get some "aftermarket" ones for about $2.50 each. Far cheaper than factory ones. Get a number of mop pads. I put on a clean (washed) one each day and just toss them in the laundry. The only issue I've had with the unit involves charging. Even a minimal amount of dirt or contamination on the contacts will cause an error-it will "tell" you to clean them, doing so and all is good. It's more sensitive in that regard than other brands I've ordered. I've seen some comments with the dock plugging up. I've had minimal issues with it. I think 2 times it's jammed when it picked up a large wood chip from the wood stove. Only other time was when I didn't notice the dust bag was full and it backed up a bit. The directions say to only use water in the tank. I usually add 2-3 drops of the Bona hardwood floor cleaner to a tank. Hasn't caused any problems and does seem to clean a little better. What could use improvement? Well, a cyclonic dust bin so you didn't have to buy bags would be number 1. The mapping program should let you set direction for mopping for wood planks, rather than making you "cheat" as I described above. Would be nice to have it sense when the dust bin is full, or set run time for it to return to the dock and dump, rather than creating smaller rooms. And maybe a bigger dust bin-but there really isn't room for one. On hard surfaces, this is about perfect. It works well on most of our area rugs. We do have one that shows and really seems to cling to pet hair. The vacuum does "OK" on it, but not great and hair builds up over a few days. Frankly, our upright doesn't do much better, you have to go over and over it to remove much of the hair. I picked up one of the pet hair squeegees to work the hair out once in a while, seems like the best solution so far. The battery is the other issue. Not capacity, it runs for quite a while (2 hours or more). But charging is very slow. I've broken up my room cleaning schedule to allow some charging time between cycles to avoid running it down to 20%-at which point it stops vacuuming and charges to 100%, which takes several hours. If you don't have our herd and don't have to clean the whole house every day, that's probably not an issue. Schedule half the house each day. Or if you can get away with vacuuming alone without mopping it would go longer. Other comments. This is a really heavy, solid unit, both the dock and the vacuum. Very much feels substantial. We have previously had a couple Neatos and a Roborock E35. This is much, much better than any of the other units (and much, much more expensive). The previous units failed to return to base at least 1/3 of the time and you'd play "where's the vacuum" every night. The E35 had a mop, but it was "static" and just pulled along (as opposed to powered on the S7), it was pretty useless-and had no water reservoir. Paying for this was painful, but I have no regrets at this point. My only concern is life. Given our rather extreme use case I'm sure we won't do as well as most. For the price I still hope to see a few years from it.

### ⭐ I really wish I could return this.
*by A***1 on September 29, 2021*

UPDATE: I've perused the new reviews added to this site since I got this and maybe I'm unique in having the problem I've been having with the robot, but I find that hard to believe. Since getting the robot we had a honeymoon period of a few months, but at this point I really wish I could go back and get something else. I hope anyone who reads this takes this into consideration! The vacuum itself is stellar. I love it, it does a great job of actually cleaning the house and making it feel like there isn't any dust anywhere! The auto emtpy base however, is a complete piece of trash that I have constantly had issues with. Firstly, it's designed so as to force you to use these crappy replaceable bags that are flimsy and just all around annoying. The rest of the world has the bucket on the right just lift away so you can empty it straight into the trash without the fuss. As far as I've been able to figure out, there is no way to replace the US version with the better version---we're just stuck with it. The biggest problem I have with it though, is that it constantly, perpetually, endlessly, gets clogged. I've had to thoroughly disassemble the auto empty base to figure out what was going on, and this is 100% a problem I've never had with any other robot vacuum. This one though is just poorly designed. To empty the robot there's essentially a second, stationary vacuum (the base). The base connects to the dock through a small chamber where all the air is forced into a small area at the base, then up a much wider pipe. This area at the bottom of the dock constantly clogs with larger clumps of dust, pet hair, and things like DOG FOOD, which I'm sure is a common thing you find on the ground if you're a pet owner! Our dog's dog food seems to be the bane of this base station's existence, which is kind of a problem as our dog frequently... well, knocks a piece or two of food out while eating. The dog food I guess is just your average, circular kibble, but the design of the airflow through the base station appears to be totally incompatble with it, an issue I have never experienced before. The vacuum itself has no trouble with picking up the food. Here's why I think that is: The aforementioned choke point at the bottom of the base into the standard-sized tubing that runs up the top of the base station seems to be a choke point. There is also a second, much harder to clear choke point at the outlet into the bag. For some reason I simply cannot discern, the designers of the base station opted to include a silicone gasket that surrounds the outside of this outflow into the bag. This outflow is also curved slightly meaning objects do not have a straight path and often get caught. It serves no purpose as far as I can tell since it just goes straight into the bag, other than of course, to trap objects like the dog food which love to just get stuck on the silicone. Because silicone is incredibly good at trapping things with friction, the food gets literally stuck and requires a near complete disassembly of the entire apparatus, and some fiddling with a fork (this so far has been the best object for dislodging the dog food). I absolutely hate this process and wonder what the point of the auto empty base even is if I'm constantly having to disassemble it to remove a common household thing that gets stuck on the floor. I have owned much cheaper robot vacuums with base stations that absolutely never had this double whammy of a problem. If you want the robot by itself, great, but if you ever have dog food or anything like it on your floors, please, for the love of god, save yourself the endless headaches and buy something else lol. This is probably the best robot vacuum on the market. We bought ours when the Amazon coupon deal was happening to replace a horrible Shark auto empty robot that basically never worked properly. Coming from that to this was amazing. However, for the price (we're talking a top of the line robot vacuum---roborocks best) it really could be better. First feature that even the very stupid shark had that this one doesn't was a "bin evacuation" feature. We have a dog who sometimes goes through periods of extensive shedding, and when he was going that I would set our old robot to empty the bin periodically while it was doing its daily run through the house. I have searched and searched for this basic feature in the roborock app, which weirdly says it's still in beta? And I can't find it! The second thing which other people have commented on is the use of silicone brushes which tend to just get stuck on medium or high pile carpets. I have some very fluffy bath mats that this thing ALWAYS manages to get stuck on. It's very annoying that you can't just leave it, and I haven't been able to find a solid replacement brush on Amazon. I'm sure silicone brushes work really well on hard floors but tkey get tangled in heavier carpets (it handled my wool rug just fine but the bath mats are an absolute no-go). The third thing is the mop. On the mop's water tank is a bizarre sticker which basically says don't put floor cleaner in the water tank. Only mop with water (as if this is a thing that people do? Who just gets their floor wet and says woo so clean!) I've filled up the water tank with a small amount (I'm talking 10ml of cleaning solution in the tan). It's a small amount and I haven't had problems so far, but hopefully the mop keeps working as this is a feature I really wanted it to have since our house is mostly hard floors. Aside from that the robot is quite good at cleaning our house, to the point we almost never need to break out our old Dyson. The mapping is stellar, especially compared to the crappy old shark, and the obstacle avoidance from the front sensor works pretty well although it still struggles with things like socks and clothes, but I don't think any manufacturer is currently able to work around those right now. A few other pros include that they have a reusable mop pad shipped in the box, the auto empty bin is great and gets everything out of the bin each time, and the robot is pretty quiet, especially compared to my old shark. The pros have outweighed the cons by far. The robot is really good! If you can grab this on sale you won't regret it, but hopefully these quirks get resolved with time. Then it'll truly be perfect.
