The headband stays in and controls her hair well. I will day, it's a snug fit for her. I imagine a 6 year old would find it too tight for their head.However, for $8, it's a great deal for a little girl who can comfortably wear it. I ordered a 2nd set, to be used on the day of Halloween, because these gloves (which she wears daily) will be very frayed by then.
