The writing isn't merely clumsy but ungrammatical in places and the achievements so crudely done that the whole.thing is an insult to the original. Far better than this would be to buy an unabridged version and be prepared to help any young child for whom it's intended to understand any unfamiliar words of concepts. Older children should be able to overcome a y such difficulties themselves with only minimal help. I still remember reading this aged about eight or nine nearly seven decades later. The book has become a classic for good reason. Although the illustrations in this butchered version are charming enough it's would be far better to offer a child the original so they can discover why the book has enchanted all those previous generations. Please don't deny any child the chance to find out for themselves and don't fob them off with this badly written poor substitute. Review: This was one of my favorite books from my childhood when I was 8 years old. I purchased this book for my 8 year old granddaughter & we read it while I was visiting this Christmas. She absolutely loved it. Made my heart very happy. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | Best Sellers Rank | 58,058 in Books ( See Top 100 in Books ) 902 in Fairy Tales, Folk Tales & Myths for Children (Books) 1,195 in Classics for Children | | Customer reviews | 4.4 4.4 out of 5 stars (585) | | Dimensions | 20.5 x 1.52 x 13.21 cm | | Edition | Abridged | | Grade level | Pre-school - 2 | | ISBN-10 | 9354403395 | | ISBN-13 | 978-9354403392 | | Item weight | 290 g | | Language | English | | Print length | 240 pages | | Publication date | 12 Aug. 2021 | | Publisher | Wonder House Books | | Reading age | 8 - 12 years | ## Images ![The Secret Garden : Illustrated Abridged Children Classics English Novel with Review Questions (Illustrated Classics) - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71LNna+OuAL.jpg) ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐ A butchered and badly-written insult to the original book *by A***H on 9 December 2025* I strongly recommend reading the sample before buying.
