My dog has collapsing trachea, which causes her to cough after she drinks water. When you have enough water that went the wrong direction and into the windpipe/lungs you’re going to have a dog that’s coughing on a regular basis. I tried this stuff not really expecting anything. Within two days the cough was drastically reduced. She still coughs after drinking water, but all the coughing in between is gone. He has gone as long as two weeks without an attack...which is usually just during the winter months. If it is a heart failure cough then the response would not be as good in response as compared to a respiratory type cough. **Q: Can I used it for a guinea pig?** A: I'm not sure. The pictures on the box were of a bird,dog and cat. If I were you I would try calling a vet and ask him or her if you could use it on your pet. I would imagine if a bird could take it then your guinea pig could. A bird is delicate. If a bird can take it then a guinea pug could. Sam will be having his allergy injection very soon. We bought this product to give him some relief in the meantime, and they work by decreasing his cough for awhile. He has a congested allergy cough twice yearly, spring & fall. This product is tasteless & odorless so he gets it in his food. Otherwise, he would refuse to eat, run and hide & not let anyone near him. He is a big boy, strong and fast! Update 03/23: Here we were wi5h Sam's allergies in full bloom again, waiting for our sched vet appointment. I atarted homeo pet out of desperation because we still cannot get med into this boy.
