A: Thank you for your question! The measurement you're referencing is for 12 quarts of water. Our Seed Starter Mix is less dense than water, so it weighs less.

**Q: how many cells in a starter tray will this bag fill?**
A: Thanks for the question, the answer to that depends on what type/size tray you are using. There are 12 quarts in this bag, so I'd recommend finding the volume of the tray you'd like to use in quarts and dividing that number by 12 to find out how many bags you'll need.
