It's basically just taking a very thin layer of acrylic off. **Q: Can I use Dawn dishwasher soap to wash the headlights?** A: So first wash your headlights and the areas around them with very diluted Dawn, and make sure you rinse them thoroughly. Then go to step one after you have dry the lights. Then with a bottle filled with plain water, squirt some plain water onto your headlights and onto the sanding circle and follow the directions then rinse with water only before you begin step three. Make sure all the areas around your headlights and the headlights are bone dry. A towel dried them very thoroughly and then let my car sit in the garage for a couple hours before I did the third step . Before you begin the third step, you will look at the head luncheon. Wonder if this is all gonna turn out OK but I guarantee you once you wipe the third step on it’s amazing how clear your headlights will be. I can’t really speak for longevity just yet, but I can say after a month it’s been doing well and Louisiana heat is absolutely brutal. So first, I use the 3M headlight restoration kit with the drill attachment to prep the headlights. In my opinion, if you have headlights that are peeling, the only way to do it correctly is too sand that off. So I use the p500 on the drill, then the p800, then wet sand with the trizact 3000. Then I clean the headlights off, use my portable vacuum as a blower, and completely dry the lights. Re-tape around perimeter of the lights to make sure I don’t get any of the product on the paint, and wipe from one side all the way across slow and steady. Overlap about 50% but ONLY wiping the same direction each time. Leave the fan on to help dry them and enjoy. It’s a bit time consuming, but honestly worth it even if it only last a year!
