The handle and head seem very sturdy, the shaft is just aluminium, I’m guessing for weight saving so I’d imagine it could get easily damaged if stood on or hit with anything. Possibly 2cm diameter .** A: I use mine to prune roses growing up the house and it will cut reasonable sized branches. Ash might be tougher. A useful tool for those hard to reach places. **Q: Is it telescopic or fixed length?** A: Not telescopic but good enough reach for me. Not really for large old wood. Well made tool though. **Q: This item broke after second use. It's very adaptable to various angles and not too heavy, although it's best not to use it for too long, as it can cause pain in the wrist and arm, especially when the branches are a bit tougher.
