Came with a good edge and bevel, no chips or anything and i was using it on decently hard wood. I quit after so long cause I just felt bad for swinging it cause how much I love it. Now I understand that this might be considered a budget friendly knife however I would have thought that it being a Damascus layered blade it would take more time to rust. But it's a feicre kukri and will go through about anything. It's a beast of blade. Other than the little bit of rusting on the blade. First off, the handle is flat-out gorgeous. It looks like it's possibly a burl of a marandi tree. If that's the case, then its value would be staggering. Add to that the four brass spacers. You only see that extra touch from the finest of forges. As for the Damascus patterned blade, guard, and butt cap, this is the most incredibly rich and interesting pattern I have in my collection; and I have many others to compare it to.
