The timber is a close grain teak that when properly cared for, is capable of standing many years of the inclement British weather! The timber is sourced from sustainable resources and so you can purchase with a clear conscience from an environmental perspective. Manufactured using FLEGT approved and certified timber. Please note that nominal home assembly is required. Teak is naturally very high in oil content. This is precisely why it lasts so long in harsh western European climates. Due to this high oil content and in certain temperatures and humidity, a slight furring / blooming may occur on the surface of the wood. This can occur whilst the product is contained in its packaging during warehousing and transportation from the Far East. This is completely normal for high quality teak and is not a product fault. It simply wipes off with a damp cloth. Safety Warning Always assemble the bench on a flat, stable surface. Wipe off any surface residue with a damp cloth. For outdoor use, consider applying a protective sealant to maintain the bench's integrity and prevent warping or cracking due to weather exposure. Do not exceed the bench's weight limit. Review: Nice bench - Nice bench, reasonable quality, good wood and good method of assembly. This is a nice bench. For the price I think it’s good value. Comes flat packed in a box ready for self assembly. The wood is good and the bench is sturdy and well made. The seat and back are all finished assembled so all you hade to do is fit them to the arms. Assembly instructions are good and it’s pretty obvious where everything goes. The instructions advise glueing every joint with pva glue which is provided in a little pot. I didn’t use this as I already had a squeezy bottle of Gorilla wood glue in the house-so I used that. As you assemble, the joints are secured by a couple of supplied teak dowels in each joint, again glued and hammered in. This means that all joints are secured by this method, although they supply screws which again secures all the joints afterwards. Overall I’m very pleased with this bench. It looks great, it’s comfortable and sturdy. I bought the three seater version. I paid an extra £10 for next day delivery, which was by APC Overnight couriers. On the delivery day I tracked and monitored the drivers route and as it got closer to home, my wife and I got ready to receive it. All of a sudden we got a message stating “delivery attempted”!…. No way-we were both watching the road outside and no delivery vehicle. I called the delivery depot twice and complained, and was told on both occasions that the driver would come back and deliver that same day. All lies!!! Delivery finally arrived the next day, fortunately my wife was at home waiting as I again tracked it. No ring on the bell, no knock at the door, the driver delivered our bench by standing it up against the wall of the house and was only discovered when my wife went outside to check. Absolute rubbish service and a waste of £10 and an afternoon taken off work! I was able to carry the box to the back garden myself so not too bad to lift and handle, but easier with 2 people to save struggling. Also purchased a seat cushion, not necessarily needed as the bench is nice to sit on, but just to make it a little more comfortable. We love our new bench, just a shame about the delivery company…. This is a nice bench. For the price I think it’s good value. Comes flat packed in a box ready for self assembly. The wood is good and the bench is sturdy and well made.
