I used basic laundry soap, washed,rinsed, wringed,let dry and replaced. I tried them on an furnace/ac vent into my bedroom and it noticeably reduces air flow, which means that air from the furnace -already filtered by the high quality furnace filter we have - is not making it into our room as well. Price is good, easy to cut.
