A: The replacement filter is a cartridge that needs to be replaced, according to the manufacturer, every 2-3 years or when effectiveness diminishes. Had ours for about 8 months now and it works very well.

**Q: Will this filter out the limescale build up from water?**
A: The anti-scale filter minimizes scale from building up in the first place by ensuring hardness to stay in solution rather than precipitating out.
(Note that if lime scale build up has already occurred, this filter will not remove the scale.)
