It comes with its own cover. It's not a mattress protector. It's made to add cushioning to the top of your bed to make it more comfortable. **Q: Any experience with size issues? New mattress seems smaller than the topper I've had for 2 years. Both are queen.** A: I have had my mattress for about 3 years, and my topper for about 2 years. Immediately, I noticed that the full sized topper was slightly larger than the full sized mattress. This has really not been an issue for me, however. I place my mattress protector so as to cover both mattress and topper. When I strip the bed, I just make sure the topper is squared up evenly on the mattress. Not sure if an error was made and a 3-in was accidently put into a 4-in box or it never measured 4-in to begin with. This company does sell a 3-in also (does that mean you really get a 2-in?) but this is NOT what I ordered. I complained to Amazon who said I could always return it but that is easier said than done. There was no way I would be able to put this back in the original box as it comes compressed and once expanded, well forget it! You might do it with 2 people with a much bigger box. I ordered a Queen size, and it took all my strength (I'm a senior citizen) to get it to my bed once expanded. I had to leave it over my sofa for 2 days (per instructions) to expand fully so I could sleep on my only bed. It really didn't expand any more after the first hour so 2 days IMO was not necessary, but I kept hoping it was going to get to 4-inches. Overall, not happy with product...it is too soft and NOT for someone with a bad back. It is a little difficult to get out of bed also due to the softness. Two things were good about it; (1) the cover, which I would never attempt to remove due to the difficulty of getting it back on; (2) there was no noticeable odor (no off-gassing). My local post office wouldn’t deliver it so if you have trouble lifting moderately heavy items make sure you have someone around to help, total weight for the queen size is probably close to 40 lbs.I’m currently in my 2nd trimester of pregnancy and I have been waking up with horribly aching hips for a week now, so I’m desperate for relief (and sleep). This reduces pressure on my hips and will work just fine for now.There are a couple of things I don’t like. The biggest issue being that it’s about an inch wider than my queen mattress. It’s less noticeable with sheets on but I was hoping it would fit better.Also, and this is an issue with a lot of memory foam toppers and mattresses in my experience, you sink into it and the sides curl up a little. If you aren’t a heavy person it might be less noticeable.It is 4” as described, and it reaches full thickness in about 5-10 minutes.
