What is going to be better as I may purchase two and don't want the egg crate?** A: 1) The standard orthopedic foam is the egg crate foam. 2) The memory foam is approx 3 in medical grade solid foam topped with approx 1 in memory foam. People often don't read enough. **Q: I have a 65 lb lab. Would it be better to get a large or a jumbo for his size?** A: Honestly a jumbo XL is the best fit for your furbaby. We have a black lab that weighs 60 lbs and the jumbo is too small for her. We are greatly disappointed because it states that the jumbo would fit her perfectly for her size. We pulled it out of the box and our beagle would fit in it. Now we have to order an other bed for her. My frenchie has some hip issues and is getting older now so I wanted to try and invest in some kind of orthopedic bed for him. I decided on this one after reading so many mixed reviews and I'm happy I did. I'm actually getting another one for his 2 sisters really soon!It's so comfortable and I love the pillow edging around the bed. (I even fell asleep on it and I slept like a baby lol).. Comes with 2 seperate zippered compartments so you can take the cover off when washing it. The outside is machine washable but I don't place it in the dryer, I just hang dry it (Dries in no time). Foam material inside is not meant to get wet but if it does, it dries fairly quickly. Spot cleaning is easy on the foam mattress inside if your dog has an accident and it gets stained.Mattress comes folded up and vacuum packed so it does take a while for the foam to shape itself again. (it doesn't effect the quality of the mattress but the foam does tear easily, so be careful and gentle when removing it from the package). I see many complaints about this but honestly, with a little fluffing and use it flattens out and takes shape in no time! You can move the foam around inside to adjust it/fluff it around. Eventually, it'll fluff up and look like the photos I've attached below.We've owned this bed for over a yr now and it wears beautifully. Holds up well (not for constant chewers, they'll probably chew through the fabric).. that being said, it's pretty durable (I have 3 frenchies that use it constantly). My dog bam bam and his new sisters love it so much I'm going to get another one soon. My dogs love to rest their heads on pillows so this was perfect and exactly what I was looking for.The orthopedic foam seems to be pretty good quality and it really provides a lot of cushion and support for my 6 yr old frenchies hips and joints. He used to wake up a little stiff from the other beds and ever since I got this one, he's been waking up feeling great and ready to play. They take a while to “fluff” up but out dogs were happy with them before and now down to one ordered her another and loves it again. They are soft and assembly is easy, as it all fits together. We were able to wash the last rounds cover without issue. Photo two dogs is the last ones we had, the newest is the brown.
