## Description

desertcart.com: Weighted Hula Hoop, Trim Hoop 3lb, 4lb Large, Rainbow, Lose Belly Fat (Trim Hoop 3B) : Sports & Outdoors

Review: Hula hoop! - This is a fun workout for all ages, whenever I get this out to use it the kids are all jumping for joy so they can try it as well. I’m not too sure it is working in the “trimming” aspect but it is fun. Pretty easy to put together.
Review: Great piece of exercise equipment for a fun and challenging workout - I've loved hula hooping since I was a kid--I used to win blue ribbons on Field Day for keeping it up the longest. I'd recently been using a toy hoop to exercise for extended periods of time (I'd alternate clockwise and counterclockwise every couple minutes, for 20+ minutes) but I wanted more of a challenge, so I bought this weighted (3 lb.) hoop. It was, as many others have mentioned, a bit challenging to assemble it initially--it was hard to make sure that the pieces click in place properly. I just rolled back the foam on each of the pieces to make sure that each insertable end clicked into place (then rolled the foam back into place). When you try to pull the pieces apart, they should not budge at all; that's how you know it's ready to go. This hoop is several inches larger in diameter than my toy one, so it looked a bit intimidating, but if you're familiar with hooping in the first place then you should be able to keep it up. At first it felt funny--I tried for a few seconds and it tickled so I had to stop since it was making me laugh. Once I composed myself, though, I tried again and was able to keep it up for a couple minutes. After that, it does start to feel a little uncomfortable from the pressure against your sides and ribs--on the box, it recommends no more than 3 minutes a day for beginners. Since I had been doing hooping and other core exercises, though, I tried it for a while longer (two separate 4-minutes sessions) later and found it fun and challenging. It's cool that weighted hoops actually move more slowly around than the lightweight, toys ones, so it's easier to try things like turning around in a circle as the hoop moves around you. I wouldn't recommend buying this if you've never hula hooped in your life; it takes a certain amount of core strength and coordination to be able to keep it up, especially a weighted one. But if you are already reasonably fit and know how to swivel your hips to keep up the hoop's rotation, then this is a good product to buy to give you a more challenging core workout. It's great to do while you watch TV (you need at least 5 or 6 square feet of space to have room to use this); you can increase the duration of use weekly but it says never to exceed 20 minutes at a time. The initial discomfort of using this wore off after a few days. The day after I first tried it, my sides were so sore that it hurt to try it again that day. But I gradually built up the duration of my workouts with this, and now I often do 30 minutes a day, in ten-minute intervals, still alternating direction every couple minutes (I intersperse the 10-minute sessions with weightlifting and resistance band moves). I found it has definitely built up my core strength, and I still enjoy using this a few times a week. Update: 11 years later and I still have this thing and use it all the time. The foam has gotten slightly dented here and there (probably from my bumping into things in my small apartment) but nothing that affects the functionality at all. It fits in my closet when I want it out of the way. Clearly it’s been a great investment, since I love to hula hoop! Update again: It’s 2023, and I still use this all the time. Only the few minor dents in the foam, but the frame is very sturdy snd does not fall apart. I love hooping while watching my favorite shows. Some variations I try are light jogging while hooping, standing on one leg for as long as I can while hooping, letting the hoop drop from my waist to my hips (which means you have to keep up a faster pace to maintain the rotation), walking around a bit as my space allows, side lunges, and arm circles while (you guessed it) hooping.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What is the different between the 2.5 and the 3 lb range. Should I buy the travel or the regular one?**
A: Weight wise theres obviously a half a pound difference. But with both the recommended users weight is 140-180 lbs. 180-220lbs range is a 4lbs hula hoop. And 1-2lbs hoops are considered "play hoops" and usually are harder for beginners to keep on waist. I personally own a 3lbs hula hoop and it disassembles with a push of a button, so it could be taken anywhere. Go with whichever one is the cheaper between the two.

**Q: I need to know how to disassemble this hula hoop, I did not put it together.
Thanks for your help**
A: This product was assembled by locking a button on one section into it's notch/hole on the opposing section. To disassemble you can supposedly locate the button by depressing the foam in the area of the original connection point. Not easily accomplished to locate since each button, by design, is flush with the tube. If you are able to determine where this elusive locking button is, then supposedly you press down approximately 1/4" into the foam and twist the tubing in opposite directions. Hopefully dislodging the button from the hole where it was obviously safe, secure and happy. Just repeat for each remaining connection. I have tried several times and decided to leave mine assembled. If I ever sell my house, it will be left behind for the next occupant. Hopefully it will be a design engineer!

**Q: Tell me all the weights that the hula hoops come in**
A: I've seen different brands offering: 2,3,4 and 5lbs. I'm 5'9" and 148 lbs and I got the 3 lb one. I googled what size I should get for my height and weight. I hope this helps. .:)

**Q: Does it get your heart rate up? Could you use it for cardio?**
A: Sorry it's taken so long to answer this. No, I would not count this as a cardio workout. I step up and down on my grandchildrens' stepping stool for that. As you can see, my workout is very low tech - a hoola hoop and child's step stool. One last thing, get a set of back exercises to strengthen your core. Hoops hoop 15 minutes, stair step 15 minutes, core exercises 15 minites.

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ great work-out, great for learning/drilling tricks too!
*by M***A on June 18, 2011*

I started Hula-Hooping in December, and even though I already had one, I purchased this one to help me lose a bit more weight. This hula hoop is 3 pounds and collapsible. The foam helps offset the extra pressure from the hoop's weight. It comes with all sorts of warnings of bruising, but i suppose this is mainly a concern if you have less fat and more muscle. I have never been bruised by this hoop. My hooping has improved significantly since December, and I can do a decent amount of tricks fluidly. I still use this hoop for exercise purposes, but I find myself using it more and more for drills. Because it's so heavy, it seems to drill tricks and moves into your muscle memory a lot quicker. I've been able to conquer clockwise hooping (going the opposite direction i normally go) because of this hoop. It has also helped me improve my off the body isolations. I recommend this hoop for beginners and intermediates alike; for those just looking for a fun workout and for those looking to learn more tricks. I also recommend getting this one and not the one with the ridges. Those do hurt. This one does not. And to all of those just looking for a fun workout, you will get bored with this after a while so it's a good idea to learn some tricks (you-tube is a great resource for this). The tricks will also improve the effectiveness of your workout (i.e. isolations work your biceps and triceps, etc.)
