A stethoscope is basically just a defence that conducts sound through tubes from inside aabn object to the listener by means of air sealed in tubes. The diagnostic ability is with the user in most case. HOWEVER after saying that one does have to ask if your using it for any special medical purpose other than to listen to breath sounds, basic heart sounds, inter abdominal functioning, blood pressure. Just as there are some special things you would want a stethoscope to have if are a cardiologist and need a stethoscope to give you better sounds and picking up high and low frequencies, or if working with pregnant women and need one that is more sensitive for inter- abdominal listening there are some specialty needs that vet processes have of some that are made a bit differently.
