This product does shred chicken but with limited capability. The design is ideal but the plastic materials that are used are just ok. Obviously it would be better in the shredder was metal but given the cost it wasn't an option. I think the device does OK and I will probably use this to shred my chicken instead of using a knife. I'm not sure how well it will work with coarser foods such as steak. The ergonomic handle and non-slip bar made it easy to use, and I appreciated that it is BPA-free. However, I found that it shreds chicken but just barely. The product might work for very tender meats like roast beef or pulled pork, but anything tougher would be a challenge.
