I inspected it closely, abnd I found it to be built identically to the Grundfos one. I felt confident it was a good choice. I tested it by closing the cold valve, and seeing hot water flow out through the cold tap. Works fine. And it does shut off fully. The old valve failed 'open', not shutting off, and also failed to close, not shutting off when the temp was reached. This happens because the valve gets covered in limescale, and it can be cleaned by soaking in vinegar. In this case, I just decided to go with the new one, which works great. I;m sure it will last as long as the Grundfos one, but with hard water, it will be necessary to inspect it and clean it with vinegar once in a few years. RECOMMENDED.

This is to replace the original Grundfos valve, which runs over $70, which one was much cheaper. I inspected it closely, abnd I found it to be built identically to the Grundfos one. I felt confident it was a good choice. I tested it by closing the cold valve, and seeing hot water flow out through the cold tap. Works fine. And it does shut off fully. The old valve failed 'open', not shutting off, and also failed to close, not shutting off when the temp was reached. This happens because the valve gets covered in limescale, and it can be cleaned by soaking in vinegar. In this case, I just decided to go with the new one, which works great. I;m sure it will last as long as the Grundfos one, but with hard water, it will be necessary to inspect it and clean it with vinegar once in a few years. RECOMMENDED.
