The blue richter tuned model- in the key of G. My goodness this is a nicely weighted, nicely built, airtight and small enough for a pocket, instrument. A new favorite after playing for just about 1/2 hour. The case it comes with is similar to an eyeglass case, with a soft covering and spring steel 'snap' when you close it. If you enjoy quality sound in a small package, versatility, and good value for your money then I think you might want to give this a try. A Beginner should be able to learn and play this well- holes are of good size and it doesn't require a lot of force to make sound. The comb is plastic but the body is metal and the slide and mouthpiece is metal. Since I didn't know what kind of music I wanted to play, I opted to get an upgraded Marine Band, a Trochilus Solo, a Easttop Performer Chromatic, and an Eastar Admiral Tremelo. After two months of playing again, I think my favorites are the JDR Trochilus and the Eastar Tremelo. Why? They are both easy to play, small and comfortable, and both sound great. The Trochilus easily bends notes and plays like a small diatonic. I never use the Marine Band. I think it's a good introductory harmonica for someone who plays diatonic but wants to learn chromatic. The big Easttop I bought has three octaves and has a very nice midrange sound, but the airflow resistance is not consistent, the holes feel a lot farther apart, and it really takes more effort to play, especially if you are trying to play it quickly. The little Trochilus is just so easy to grab and play well.
