The gold layer seems to have been a sticker of some kind as one of the cuffs has some wavy lines that look like the sticker was not places smoothly. It goes directly through where the star is on that cuff. But they’re hard to get on your arms if you have larger arms, and then they just slide up and down. I wish they were more customize where you could squeeze the metal to fit your arm.
