That is why they are sold in pairs. Always check the motherboard spec's to see which slots to use. My current 4 slot board recommends using A2, B2 first, others recommend A1, B1 first, so it depends on the design of the board. Also make sure the board supports XMP. **Q: Is this a quad channel ram?** A: The one's I bought was dual channel... However wont recommend to buy these or buy now as Samsung is being to produce more memory and prices should drop drastically. They come with an extra dedicated fan which is very useful, needs a socket on the MB to work and the cable from the fan is very short. Also make sure your Bios can handle the speed, 4 GHZ.
