I use them to clean electrical connections in all my battery-operated gear at home, on my motorcycle, and in my boat. Clean the connections, dab a little dielectric grease on the metal, and put it all together. I also use it when soldering to get to clean metal. They also do a great job when cleaning up corrosion from leaking batteries. This pack of high quality brushes should last me a year or two at the rate I use them. I can't say enough great things about these brushes. Review: Better than the one that came with the brush - I bought the expensive scratch brush sold here with "Germany" printed on the side. The included brush wore down to nothing after only a couple uses on a circuit board. This refill pack says "Made in Germany" and fits the brush handle that I purchased. Fiberglass Scratch Brush *by I***S on September 23, 2012* I must say that this product is great and better than other products on the market. The bristles are a bit stiffer than other brushes bit works to its advantage because it does hold up to some good scratching. I use the refills for my original Radio Shack scratch tool and it today's time getting German made products is a luxury. The brushes are great for fine work and I use then to polish oxidation from HO locomotives and also to make the tracks nice and shiny before soldering the track work on my layout. This 24 pack will go a long way and I have also used it on some very old coins to remove the grit and get the fine details to surface. Also used it on PCB track work to get the oxidation off so you do not always have to use solder paste or rosin before soldering.
