Thank you** A: This is just my opinion: No, it’s not thicker nor denser than Kikkoman. Kikkoman has a stronger distinct taste that’s good for soups, gravies, sauces, anything added to liquid, Kikkoman is good. Aloha Shoyu on the other hand, is good for gravies and it can stand alone for dipping sauces, like “Poke” mixes, Gyoza dips, things like that. It’s more of a personal preference, an acquired taste you would have to try using it. I have both and use either one depending on what I’m making. I used to think it was just because I grew up in Hawaii, but everyone from the mainland that I have try it agrees that this is the most superb shoyu made. Now that I live on the mainland, I am really happy that it is available at a reasonable price on Amazon since it is not always available at the commissary. The taste is far superior to all other shoyu sauce so if this was not available for me, I would be heartbroken. It comes in a variety of sizes, but the half gallon is perfect in my opinion. It fits in most cupboards and is easy to handle. The salt level is perfect and there is no horrible aftertaste like in other shoyus on the market.
