Review: A good compromise for my particular situation - The peculiarities of my body (currently 36FF UK size plus hypermobility & frequent rib/sternum pain) have me concluding I will not have the flatter chest I want without drastic measures. Even if I could use a traditional binder, it probably wouldn’t get me as flat as I want (or, honestly, that third arm instead that I’ve been wishing for since I was 11). I’ve been on a campaign of “this is the body I have so I will take care of it” campaign the past few years, which has actually been really good, but lately I’ve been noticing the foam of my Panache Sport bras sticking out more than I want (dysphoria galore), so I figured the TomboyX compression bra might be a nice compromise. In my experience, it IS a nice compromise. It’s taken some getting used to, ribs-wise, but I don’t feel constricted wearing it. I don’t like traditional sports bras because they’re usually terribly difficult to pull on (especially when navigating significant chestage) and the bands usually sit at a really weird place. I was pleasantly surprised to find that while this isn’t as easy for me to put on as a hook-and-eye closure bra, the firmness of the material doesn’t fight me when I put it on. It’s also longer than most sports bras I’ve worn in the past, which feels supportive in front and back. The flat elastic of the bottom band doesn’t dig or roll up, or concentrate a lot of pressure in a small area. To me, the bottom band is painless, which is a very rare experience for me. The armholes are…not my favorite? There’s not a lot of coverage for the tail of Spence (front “armpit fat” which is actually breast tissue), and I do get some pressure points from the seam. Also, the neckline seam is a bit visible under t-shirts, probably because it’s being pushed out by the compressed tissue. Sometimes I wish the neckline was a little higher, but then that might be too high, so…I mean, it’s definitely less of a problem than the necklines of my Panache Sports, so I’ll take it. I’ve been able to “swoop & scoop” so that the bra material prevents skin from sitting on skin for the most part, except for in the middle (that’s a bit of an old-timey barmaid cleavage situation, for lack of a better descriptor). I’ve managed to figure out how to apply powder before & after I put the garment on, which goes a long way in making a very schweddy situation less miserable. It’s not that the compression bra is excessively hot—in fact it’s quite light—I’m just dealing with a combination of a lot of flesh, chronic illness that affects what temp my body thinks it should be, and living in a swamp. Am I flat? Definitely not. (Bust measurement is maybe 1” less in this than a regular properly-sized underwire.) Do I have uniboob? Yes. Does this compression bra make things relatively better? Also yes. It’s not terribly expensive, it’s relatively comfortable to put on and wear, I appear flatTER, and I appreciate the color options. & something to remember when mourning not being more flat: post-serum Steve Rogers probably still has more boob.
Review: Not a binder, but a comfy compromise - I'm not trans but I love looking flat chested. However traditional binders are too constricting, athletic tape damages my sensitive skin, and most compression bras I found didn't compress enough. This one though- its a dream come true! It doesn't give a perfect flat chest, but it's more flattening than other bras and it does that while staying comfy to wear. I feel like I could sleep and exercise in this with no problem. On top of that it's thin and breathable for hot climates. Note that I have a 30C chest, which is a small band/bust difference and therefore easy to bind. Someone with a bigger distance between band and bust will likely not have as much success. Also, regardless of chest size: If you're looking to flatten yourself out completely to eliminate chest dysphoria, it may be better to pick an actual binder. But if you're binding for non-dysphoric reasons, and/or are willing to sacrifice flatness for more mobility and longer wear time, I highly recommend this. EDIT 8/18/23: After a lot of gentle washes and hang-drying, this garment binds a little bit less than it did when I first got it. It's also a little warped. But you can't tell that the fabric is warped when it's on, and a looser fit means I can wear it for longer periods of time now.

### ⭐⭐⭐ good
*by G***E on November 1, 2023*

i got an XL so i sized up a little to be safe. i wasn’t going for super flat, but flatter because i do not like how my chest looks with some outfits. the color holds well after washing, the fabric is breathable but i had some problems with sensitivity, it is comfortable to wear for a couple of hours at a time but please be careful! i’ve only had one bad experience with it so far, where i found it was a little hard to breath after only wearing it for an hour or so. other than that i have had good experiences. the straps do not dig into my underarms & it covers a good portion of my chest. for reference i am 5’6” (170lbs) with a medium build.
