The handle is hollow so it will fill up with any liquid, which is something I would change and would prefer a sealed-off handle for sanitary purposes. I rinse it with very hot water and anti-bacterial soap or Comet liquid cleanser with bleach, and sometimes spray inside with a disinfectant. The lid is not spill-proof, which is something I'd also change, again for sanitary reasons.
