If I had short nails, 2 coats would have been fine. And I did 2 coats of top coat. Yes, this is a thicker polish, but it has to be to lock in the large sequins. It sorely depends on application so that it doesnt appear chunky. To get a even smooth look id recommend applying this glitter EVENLY across a small makeup sponge or blending nail sponge, wait a few seconds for excess gel to soak in sponge, then dab sponge on clean nail plate, use corner of sponge or liner brush to move sequins around then cure. After fully cured i applied another coat without the sponge but thinly to fill in any crevices from the first layer of sequins.
