As the knife came, it was sharp but i still put a new edge and hone on it using my Trizor system which brought it to a 15deg edge like a razor. The appearance is nice, the core steel is a little thicker than most Damascus but held an edge through a LOT of meat yesterday, every bit as much as i would have expected out of my Dalstrong slicer. The handle is VERY attractive and fits the hand well, it did get a little slippery when it was full of grease, etc but I hit it real fast with some steel wool and that took the slipperiness away quite a bit (and also made the handle not so ridiculously shiny - dare i say it made it look a LOT better, yes i do.) Other than the meat it also caught duty with some onions and did a good job there too, if not a little unwieldy (but that's not the task it was designed for so of course it wouldn't be perfect to handle - the point is it did the job well) For the price, I'm not disappointed, it's definitely on-par with my Dalstrong Slicer (which ran about 20% more) so I'm giving it 5 stars all around.
