For anyone with flat flexible feet whose toes spread (genetic defect), Berkinstocks are the ideal fit. My feet look wide barefooted but M medium shoes are either too wide or become too big afyer wear. Being able to tighten the two strap sandal is the BIG PLUS, Infact had to tighten up to the last hole to avoid a loose fit. I've admired this brand for many many years but having had to wear correctional Oxford as a child the thought of a heavy LOOKING shoe always stopped me from purchasing Berkinstocks. I've tried them on every year since being advised they'd be comfortable for my type feet which has affected my back, hip and knees. Looking down at my feet made feet look bigger plus they felt hard. I've always been so picky about shoes LOOKING GOOD on these feet, I'd put them back and buy the latest style in leather and suede. As I said I've always admired others who wear them. The shoe spells expensive taste, however I'd buy 4 or 5 pair of another brand which ended up in closet by end of seasons. I couldn't wait until end of day to put on a pair of the dozens of house slippers. Taking off work, causal or dress shoes occuppied my mind all day or night.
