They shine a soft light and they are fairly bright, batteries so far are lasting all night so I am happy with them, alas 2 lights stopped working, contacted seller who was very helpful and resolved my problem very professionally and quickly, delivery was well on time. Update, alas I have only 2 lights working now, following an inspection, discovered rain had seeped into the lights and coroded the LEDs inside, which is a pity as they were nice lights, hence the 3 stars.
