The ink cartridge is also smooth and free of drips or smudges. Very fussy about pens because I do a lot of daily hand writing, this one is great and hits the mark. Well-balanced, replaceable ink, smooth twist open and close, and as I say, nice and weighty. All in all very pleased and would definitely buy another. Not always easy to find things in my favourite colour but this rich Teal is spot on.In heavy daily use for about two months and has two small knocks (my own fault, having dropped it on a wooden floor), but not too upset - nice to have a bit of character I suppose!Will be making this my go-to brand from now on. It comes with a blue jotter refill ink and I replaced it with a gel ink jotter refill from Parker (medium size). Wow, this really makes a big difference and the pen is like one of the gel ink disposable pens but with a very good balance for writing. The components of this pen are all made of solid metal and I don't see any plastic materials with it. The spring is fitted with the upper compartment of the pen and therefore no fear of loosing it while you open it for replacing the refill. Overall a very good ball point pen for this price. The bright colour painting (I bought yelllow)appears to be tough and likely to last.
