Review: Worth Every Penny for Nervous New Parents - A genuinely reassuring device that gives my wife tremendous peace of mind overnight. It does exactly what it promises and generally delivers reliable performance. The companion app is a good and offers clear insight into our baby's sleep patterns, including REM cycles, wakeful periods, and more. The only minor drawbacks worth mentioning is that it very occasionally disconnects, which causes a brief flash of panic before you realise it's simply a connectivity blip. Fitting the sock correctly also takes a little practice at first, though it quickly becomes second nature. Overall, I personally think its expensive, but my wife considers the reassurance alone to be worth every penny.
Review: Not cheap, but worth every penny for the reassurance - I’ve been using the Owlet sock for 5 months now, My baby has worn it every night since he was born. Overall it’s given me a lot of reassurance while he sleeps. The battery life is really good and easily lasts through the night, which makes it simple to include in our bedtime routine. The device itself feels very good quality and the sock has held up really well with no wear or issues so far. It also looks quite sleek on the bedside table and isn’t an eyesore. I also travel with the owlet sock, it’s very easy to take with us. I just put it in his bag and set it up wherever we go, which makes it really convenient. For cleaning I remove the sock from the electronic sensor part. The sock itself goes in a wash bag and I wash it on a hand wash setting in the washing machine. The main device with the electronics, I just clean gently using a toothbrush with a bit of water and Fairy liquid, making sure not to get it too wet. You do have to pay for a subscription if you want a more detailed report, but I do think it’s worth it. It also tells you an estimated next nap time if you leave it on for longer periods, which is a new feature and has been really helpful. One thing to be aware of is that sometimes if I go downstairs with him still wearing the sock and leave the base station upstairs, it can trigger the alarm due to being out of range. So if you have a larger house, you may need to move the base station around with you. But I now only tend to have it on him during the night. We did have a couple of false alarms at the beginning, which were a bit scary but I’d rather have a false alarm than no warning at all. Since he’s got bigger (now 5 months old), we haven’t really had any issues or false alarms. Overall, it’s been really reassuring and easy to use and has become something we rely on every night. Even though the upfront cost and subscription are quite expensive.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How does Dream Sock compare to other baby monitors?**
A: Dream Sock goes beyond traditional monitors, giving parents peace of mind and better sleep with trusted wellness data. Clinically proven tech provides real-time health visibility, while Predictive Sleep tracks rhythms and windows for better rest.

**Q: Is a subscription required?**
A: No subscription is required for core features like live health readings and notifications. For advanced analytics, personalized reports, and long-term trends, you can upgrade to the Owlet360 subscription within the app.

**Q: How does Dream Sock Connect?**
A: The Sock uses Bluetooth to link to the Base Station, which connects to 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi. Setup requires a 2.4 GHz connection for both your phone and Base Station; afterward, your mobile device can return to a 5 GHz network.

**Q: How often will I receive notifications and what do the different light colors mean?**
A: You’ll only get alerts when it matters. Red indicates readings outside preset zones, while other colors signal fit or connection issues. Visit the Owlet Help Center for a full color breakdown and troubleshooting tips.

**Q: Will I still get notified if my WiF disconnects?**
A: Yes. Dream Sock uses a direct Bluetooth link, so health alerts sound even if Wi-Fi disconnects. Keep the Base Station within 30ft of the sensor. Use the Owlet Dream App to check signal strength when placing your Base Station.

### ⭐ Not compatible with newer WiFi Systems. (Could not get it to work with Eero 6 Pro E)
*by S***0 on 17 November 2024*

As a new parent for a 3 day old baby, I was excited to get this set up and ready to use. The data it was going to provide through the app looked very useful and would have definitely given a peace of mind, especially for my partner who wanted to keep an eye on our baby 24/7. The first few steps of the process were quick and simple. To paraphrase: 1. Downloaded the app. 2. Followed the on screen instructions. i. Find the local wifi network for the sock and connect it to the home wifi. ii. Once connected to the home wifi, the phone has to find the device in the network- this is where it fell apart. After retrying 2ii several times unsuccessfully, which by the way the app itself admittedly prompts ‘might require several attempts’, I have decided to reset the device and repeat the process. This was also unsuccessful. I went to search the manual, and any sources I could find online to discover that they only connect to 2.4ghz frequency and suggests to set the router to exclusively operate on 2.4ghz while setting up the sock. Eero app fortunately had this feature available, where it temporarily limits all signals to 2.4ghz for 10 minutes. It was yet another trial and error ordeal. All to no avail. At this point, after wasting over an hour straight trying, I decided to calmly pack it up, not stress out about it anymore than I have, and process a return. Maybe take up voodoo classes I don’t believe in to get back at Owlet’s engineers. At the end of the day I may have made some errors, but I can’t see where and how from retracing my steps. I can only speak from my experience and I definitely do not recommend this product. This device was just not meant to be, it seems.
