There is an option to leave the stairs off too, if you needed that. Bottom easily holds 200+ lbs and is still sturdy. Love the bed after it's been set up, I didn't put it together my son and his friend did, it takes two people to put it together which took few hours. It's sturdy because my son is a BIG GUY and my nephew is on the top bunk so it definitely works out! Value for your money get it!
