The safe is rather solid. The back side is a little thin but this safe is made to be bolted to the wall which protects it. I would not say the safe is fireproof so keep that in mind. I really like the opening mechanism, but the ring is plastic. I think it should have been metal. This may be a way for the company to cut corners to make it more affordable. I don't think being plastic affect the security of the safe however. I like that it has three ways to open it. Fingerprint (which works well), code, and key. Also, I like that it has a batter backup in case it loses power, and the key is lost. There is also a light inside which is a nice touch.
