The Original Himalayan Dog Chew is a very long lasting dog chew. Himalayan Dog Chews are made by boiling yak and cow milk and then dried for several weeks to create a hard chew. Dogs must work the end of the treat for hours, softening it with their mouths before small parts of it can be slowly scraped off. It is 100-percent natural with no preservatives. It is an authentic type of cheese eaten by the people of the Himalayas. When you give this Himalayan Dog Chew to your dog, you know that you are providing them with hours of high quality eating entertainment. Packaged by weight, quantities and size vary.

Review: Make sure you purchase the yellow label ones that say Hard - Purchased wrong ones initially from this company not fully reading their options and thinking all yaks were the HARD long lasting yak chews. I’m assuming everyone, like me, comes to Yaks bc of their long lasting yet safe chew nature so don’t make that mistake ( the softer ones are like jerky plus didn’t even puff up the same in the microwave). Now that I realized my mistake we’ve gone thru many rounds of this brands ” Hard “ Yaks. My 11 month mini Aussiedoodle is only 24# but I still usually purchase her the largest ones ( more yak for cost) I’d say these are right up there with thick bully sticks as her highest reward treat though these last longer than bully’s. Medium yaks last my chew treat obsessed girl 2-3 days if left out around the clock, larger yaks a whole week. I was initially Concerned of choking hazards of the larger sticks, (and they are too wide to fit into our bully holder) but my girl seems to stop chewing the last 1.5 inches of these bc she can no longer hold it properly to chew off the bits. It will just stay laying around our house at that length regardless ( length in pic above) and that’s when I know It’s time to pop it into microwave to turn the remains into a quick puff treat ( which she loves to seat/play with as it’s cooling off) note: she’s usually a “gulper” of the small ends of other treats but I guess is bc these are still so large and hard it prevents her following thru w that idea. Great brand of yaks!

**Q: Where are these made?**
A: Hi,I just spoke to a very nice customer service rep at the company itself.  The chews are made from yak milk, cow milk, a little salt, and some lime.  The 'chews' were originally, and still are made for human consumption in Nepal.  The way they came about as a dog chew is that a man was making his 'chews' and he dropped one and his dog loved it!  So, the Himalayan Dog Chew is made in Nepal by Nepalese yak and cow farmers who have been very well trained in how to make a treat that is up to our standards here in the U.S.  They have their headquarters in Washington State and in fact the owners are from Nepal. **Q: How long are these? Could they be broke or cut in half to make 2 out of 1? I have multiple dogs and it may be less expensive to do that rather than buy them all one or a smaller one each. Especially since it would be their first one and don't know who will like/dislike them, or have a reaction to them, ie, tummy ache, …**
A: they're each approx 6 inches long.  You're def not breaking these by hand.  It may be possible to cut with a good knife (or a saw would work)...i've never tried and don't have any on hand currently to try...but they are very hard, like a bone, and soften a bit as they chew.  I give to my 10 mo old 65lb pup for about 1/2 hour at a time and it will last about 4-5 "chewing sessions".  She loves them and chews diligently on them when provided.  Only allowing her to chew in 30-45 min increments, I've not had any negative bowel, stomach reactions :0)

**Q: How long does one chew last? I have a moderate chewer (30lbs lab mix)**
A: They don't last long for my 6 3/4 lb Pomeranian. She loves them, but she will finish an entire chew (the size recommended for the 65lb dog) in a day. So, you must only allow them to have this chew for an hour or two as the calorie content would be too much as a treat. They are a nice hard chew for dogs. Not as hard as an antler but they don't present the risk of breaking teeth that you will have with antlers or the risk of splintering that you can get from the deer and elk antlers (not so much with the moose flat antlers).

**Q: I have had little success microwaving small pieces of these chews. Maybe one in tem puffs up. Any ideas why?**
A: Hi! I would recommend microwaving it after your dog has chewed it down to about 2 1/2" inches or so....if it's a little damp it'll poof up better! But even so I've microwaved ones dry and they always puff up. Just micro on high for 15 second intervals until you see it bulge but not so long that it smells burnt. Also, I'd give it your dog initially with one end stuck in a Medium size Kong. It'll help them hold it better and also prevent any swallowing whole incidents that other people mentioned in their posts. We do this every time and haven't had any issues...enjoy!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ I’m Dog Is Nuts

Welp, this chew lasted all of 3 minutes and :27 seconds. He might have even swallowed it whole. So now I have to monitor him and make sure he passes it. Granted, my dog is beyond what one would call an aggressive chewer. He acts more like a disposal of any thing he can get in his mouth. I guess he loved it. He sure ate it fast. Think I need to go with something larger and harder. Dog: Wired Hair Pointing Griffon, aka a small hairy devil.
