Before I had a shoulder replacement I used a large, petrol Stihl hedge trimmer with a 28" blade and rotating handle. I have approximately 50metres of mature leylandii hedge over 8feet high. This trimmer cuts through like a hot knife through butter. It is so lightweight but with 24" blades makes it as easy to shape the hedge. Being battery powered it sound 'weedy', but don't be misled. I also have the pole trimmer version but use that just for rounding over the top and hard to reach areas. The 40v battery lasts for about half the job but there is no obvious loss of power until it dies completely. This is good for use but means you can come to an abrupt stop and have to wait about 2 hours for it to recharge. The trimmer itself works like a hot knife through butter! I have very mature hedges with thick stems and it eats it up like it's not there. Very sturdy, light enough and frankly puts my petrol trimmer to shame, as that always got jammed up due to the hedging. Makes light work of any job - highly recommend the product.
