I have over come that by simply sticking a strip of sellotape over them to hold them in position.Don't go overboard with screwing the adjustment control as I tried the unit on one pair of old shoes, took it a bit too far and ripped the side of the shoe from the sole.Overall I am impressed at how well they work and would recommend them. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent - highly recommended *by I***Y on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 25 October 2019* I can't recommend this enough. I have one very wide foot due to bunion and arthritis in my toe and it is extremely difficult to get footwear that is comfortable and fits well. One foot needs a 6 or 6.5 and the other a 7. I have thrown out so many pairs of shoes and boots but now I have this I'm able to keep my footwear and just stretch one of the pair to fit my wide foot. It's great. It works in leather, canvas, suede and I've used it in ankle boots and shoes. I was rather sceptical at first but I'm so glad I got this.
