Review: Great product - Works exactly as stated for Saltillo tiles. Our outdoor entry was very slippery, I was really worried a guest or delivery person would slip during rainy season. Followed directions, took an hour (total project) for about 400sf, worked like a charm. Footing is now sure, appearance did not change. Only caution is to remove items you don’t want impacted before applying product. I was a little fast and loose with our natural fibre rug, and it was stained by the acid, turning the light brown color darker. I used a bucket and broom to apply, controlled dousing in small areas, then pushing around product to ensure everything was wet. I did a test spot, as they recommend, to establish timing for application. Don’t leave, the process is relatively quick and you don’t want to over process. Do not do on a hot or sunny time of day, product will evaporate too quickly, pick a cool, shaded time. Have your hose ready for easy neutralizing process. If you have any sensitive plants in the vicinity, I would water them well the night before, and make sure your neutralizing rinse is thorough.
Review: Really works! - We have an outdoor driveway-tiled area near a water faucet that our grandkids use after the beach to rinse off. It is slippery and they fall often. I treated it with this product and all the slippery went away. I am so pleased! I applied it directly to the tile and used a brush to really get it on there evenly. I will say where I hosed it off from the tile onto the sidewalk area it discolored it ever so slightly and not evenly, but I am not concerned with that. It did well on the tile and it is a uniform difference. It does take the sheen out of your tile, and I think that’s the point. It is just not slippery anymore. It worked! I get the feeling it will last the rest of the summer easily. I might redo it at the beginning of summer next year, and may think twice about how I rinse it off onto the sidewalk area. But I am quite pleased with how it is now.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: How does it work? Does it etch the floor and/or change the appearance of the tile?**
A: It is an acid, and does etch the tile. Only you can know if it is acceptable. It does work well in a shower.

**Q: Is it difficult to get the floor clean after application (for regular floor cleaning)?**
A: Since I applied this in a shower area, the floor stays fairly clean. Besides the usual cleaning, I have never had any troubles with this product. To date, floor is still non slippery.

**Q: it says to neutralize it, what do you use to do that**
A: Plain water works but you can also mix it with 1/4 to1/2 tbs of baking soda per quart.

**Q: Can this be used on exterior honed granite? The honed granite is a public walkway in a city so lots of foot traffic.**
A: I am not sure. I used it on floor tile that someone had installed outside a front entrance. When it rain it turned into a skating rink. It definitely took care of the problem. I can not say it dulled the tile. However we are talking two different materials.

*by S***E on March 6, 2018*

When we got the “Stone Grip” product and read the instructions, I thought "this is way too complicated, I'm going to send it back". But, something told me don't give up so easily. So I got on the Web and watched a few videos, coming to realize it wasn't that hard, I just needed to make good safety preparation since it is an acid-based product. For beginners, I thoroughly scrubbed the shower floor, rinsed, and dried it, avoiding cleaning products such as bleach (instructions say to use a neutral or weakly acid-based product for this step; bleach may react with the cleaner). The instructions could have been more specific here, as I wonder if most people really know whether bleach and similar products are "acid-based" or not. Then, once I donned a long sleeve shirt and work jeans, wrapped trash bags around my shoes, (couldn’t find my rubber boots!) put on my rubber gloves and a cheap Lowe's breathing mask, I was ready to go. The actual application took only 10 minutes; after which I repeatedly applied the easy-to-make neutralizer of water and baking soda (have it ready before beginning the treatment...very important; this is outlined in the instructions). RESULTS! It made our dangerously slippery shower floor MUCH safer and we're delighted. Note: the instructions on the bottle say to use the "Stone Grip applicator", but any long-handled nylon brush will do. DON’T get too close to the work surface while the product is in use, which is why a long-handled brush works well. So be safe, pay attention and this stuff works great...at least in our "slippery shower scenario". Overall, the instructions are the weak leak in the chain; otherwise the actual product is good choice, and the effect should last for several years.
