My daughter had so much fun excavating each piece. The whole experience was novel for her and she enjoyed looking at all the specimens in amber. Great activity for the price. She was engaged for over an hour. My kid is 4, so it was a little challenging to break apart, but with help, she was able to get to each piece. If buying for a younger kid than the suggested age, I recommend having a hammer handy to give a whack to get things going. I will buy more kits from this brand.
